BETTER LIFE FOR THE NEEDY FOUNDATION (BELFON)

Builds farmer capacity through the establishment of a Farmer's Innovation Centre (FIC) and organizes exposure visits to institutions like Dr. Y.S. Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry to promote adoption of advanced horticulture techniques.

Manages and supports three Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) with over 2,000 members in Nagaland, facilitating marketing of horticultural produce such as kiwi, apples, plums, and native fruit varieties to improve market access and farmer livelihoods.

Implements holistic development initiatives to improve community health and education outcomes in rural Nagaland, including organizing health camps and providing educational support.

Leads initiatives to preserve the cultural identity of indigenous communities in Eastern Nagaland by safeguarding traditions, languages, and art forms; digitizes and archives cultural heritage and revives endangered practices through workshops and festivals.

Implements sustainable agriculture, ecological farming, organic farming techniques, and biodiversity promotion to support rural livelihoods and environmental conservation in Nagaland, including projects in food forests, high-value crops, and cultivation of garlic and mushrooms.

Supports sustainable livelihoods through livestock and poultry projects including goat farming, piggery, rabbitry, backyard poultry, and apiculture, benefiting over 2,000 marginal families in Tuensang and Kiphire districts with credit linkages and subsidies.

Leads women’s empowerment programs, promotes financial literacy, advocates for gender equality, and provides skill training for youth livelihoods in rural Nagaland.
