HORN OF AFRICA PEACE ADVOCACY

Conducts advocacy and awareness campaigns on the dangers of radicalization and the value of peace and reconciliation.

Integrates counter-violent extremism interventions into other programmatic activities.

Provides economic opportunity support to youth at risk of radicalization as a preventive peacebuilding measure.

Supports cross-border peace and reconciliation initiatives in the Horn of Africa region.

Conducts consultative forums and workshops focused on peacebuilding and reconciliation in the Horn of Africa and conflict-affected communities.

Develops and promotes the adoption of participatory peace education curricula in communities affected by conflict.

Strengthens local community governance and accountability mechanisms to support sustainable peace.

Conducts health and life skills education activities in a youth-friendly environment and provides health-related referral services to youth.

Operates a Youth Resource Centre providing support services, peer interaction, and access to educational resources, computers, and sports facilities for youth aged 15–35 and their families.

Undertakes interventions to strengthen emergency preparedness and response mechanisms.

Teaches communities about the importance of hygiene for health as part of WASH programming.

Implemented over 20 projects focused on relief, rehabilitation, and development in the Lower Juba, Bakool, and Gedo regions of Southern Somalia, including raising awareness about Shelter and Non-Food Items projects.

Constructs and rehabilitates shallow wells, water reservoirs, and water pans to improve access to clean water, and installs latrines in remote villages to improve sanitation access.

Engages youth in post-conflict peacebuilding and reconciliation through theater and sports activities.

Implements early recovery, rehabilitation, and development programs to reduce poverty and vulnerability and increase community resilience.

Improves household food self-sufficiency and income, increases market-level food supplies through rehabilitation and development of production systems, and provides alternative livelihood options to help communities meet basic needs and cope with long-term shocks.

Provides skills training for youth and women to improve livelihoods and support income generation.
