SOCIAL LIFE AND AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION(SADO)

Studies social problems in project areas to design humanitarian and development programs that address identified community needs, followed by planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of these programs.

Follows structured planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting (PME&R) procedures to manage programs and assess progress toward objectives.

Builds community capacity in managing and transforming conflicts, including cross-border disputes over water and pasture resources.

Implements programs to address food insecurity, climate change impacts, and unemployment, focusing on women and youth. This includes removing barriers to economic development, creating job and entrepreneurship opportunities, and supporting small-scale producers in increasing and diversifying their livelihoods and income sources.

Provides teacher training, teaching and learning materials, and school-based education programs to local schools in Somalia. The organization also delivers market-driven vocational skills education to vulnerable women and youth, and vocational training in various trades to young boys and girls in Somalia to equip them with employment-ready skills.

Facilitates access to food and basic needs for chronically vulnerable groups through cash transfers, food vouchers, relief food, and cash-for-work programs. The organization responds to food insecurity crises through unconditional cash transfers and Cash for Work programs to address immediate needs and develop long-term solutions for community self-reliance.

Provides training on livestock management and herding skills to nomadic communities, establishes community-based livestock markets, facilitates access to loans and micro-credit services, and offers veterinary care and animal health education through community animal health workers.

Coordinates the development of strategic and annual plans, oversees the management and stewardship of organizational resources, and ensures strong internal management practices. This includes developing and maintaining comprehensive policies and procedures manuals covering governance, finance, human resources, procurement, safety, and program management, and implementing human resource policies.

Supports tree planting initiatives, community-led flood protection mechanisms, and builds local capacity in sustainable forest management and charcoal production. The organization also raises community awareness of the connections between climate change, conflict, and instability, and promotes environmental mediation.

Provides small-scale producers with training in climate-smart agricultural practices, facilitates access to affordable inputs and financial resources, and implements climate-resilient agricultural production systems. The organization also provides agricultural extension services, equipment, technologies, and inputs to smallholder farmers, and trains women on disaster-resilient agricultural techniques.

Works with farmers to improve access to capital, increase market access, and protect against environmental degradation. The organization encourages farmers and herders to manage natural resources sustainably, including minimizing fertilizer and pesticide use and preventing overgrazing, through awareness raising, capacity building, and community empowerment.

Drills wells, installs water infrastructure, constructs and manages pit latrines, provides waste management services, and distributes hygiene kits. The organization also delivers hygiene education and promotes behavior change through various communication channels across Somalia.
